Rate a rider

Two-way ratings after every ride and how they are used.

Updated
13 September 2026

Do this after every ride, when the app asks.

Before you start. The ride is completed. The rider rates you at the same time, and neither of you sees the other's rating for that ride.

Steps

  1. Tap Rate rider on the completed ride screen.
  2. Choose one to five stars.
  3. For 4 stars or fewer, pick up to three reasons from the list.
  4. If the problem was the booking or the GuyWay app rather than the passenger, pick that reason. It stays on the screen at every star, and picking it on its own means the rating does not count against the passenger at all.
  5. Add a short comment if something needs saying: a safety concern, a mess, a rider who was late. Keep it factual.
  6. Tap Submit.

What happens next

The rating is stored against the rider's account. GuyWay uses ratings to spot riders who repeatedly cause problems and to follow up on safety comments. A single low rating does nothing on its own, and no rating does anything to anybody by itself: it opens a review that a person reads and decides.

Your own rating is under Profile. It reads your last 100 rated rides, counts nothing older than a year and drops the single lowest of them, so one bad night does not follow you and neither does a ride from two years ago. It is not the plain average of what is left. Every driver starts at 4.80 and your own ratings pull the number away from there, slowly at first and then faster as they build up: the effect is worth about ten ratings, so after five rides the number still sits close to 4.80, and after fifty it is very nearly your own average. This is deliberate. Without it a driver's first five-star ride would put them on a perfect 5.00 and their first three-star ride would put them below anyone with a hundred trips behind them, and neither number would mean anything. Once you have ten ratings in that window the screen also shows how many of each star you have and which reasons riders picked, so the number comes with something you can act on. Ratings are not shared between riders and drivers, and neither of you ever sees who rated whom.

A comment that mentions damage or a mess does not open a claim by itself. Report damage with photos through Damage, the excess and the waiver so the cleaning or damage fee reaches the rider.
