Do this when you cannot complete a ride you accepted, or when the rider is not at the pickup.
Before you start. A no-show and a cancellation are different. A no-show protects you: you are paid GYD 500 and the ride is not counted as your cancellation. Use cancellation only when you cannot do the ride.
Steps to record a no-show
- Tap Arrived at the pickup point. The waiting clock starts.
- Message the rider from the ride screen. Say where you are parked. The app has to see that message before it will offer No-show, so it is a real message and not a step to get through.
- Wait 5 minutes from Arrived, or 30 at Cheddi Jagan. Waiting costs the rider nothing, so there is no hurry on their side. The clock on your screen is the one that counts, and it already knows which kind of ride this is.
- Tap No-show when the button appears.
- Confirm. The ride closes as a no-show.
Steps to cancel
You can cancel until the trip starts. After that, call operations.
- Tap Cancel this ride on the ride screen.
- Pick the reason. The sheet shows how many free cancellations you have left this week and what this one costs.
- Tap Cancel the ride. The rider is told at once, and the ride goes straight to the next cars nearby.
How you are paid for it
GYD 500 reaches your credit balance the moment you record the no-show, and it is not conditional on anything. GuyWay pays you and then collects from the rider on their next ride, which is our problem and not yours. If the rider never books again, or disputes the fee and we drop it, you keep what you were paid.
The same is true when the desk cancels a ride you had already accepted: you are paid your share out of GuyWay's pocket, because we are the ones who called it off.
What cancelling costs you
Your first 2 cancellations of a ride you accepted each week are free. The week runs Monday to Sunday, Georgetown time. Each one after that costs GYD 1,000, shown on your monthly statement. This is clause 5.4 of your Platform Agreement, version 1.2.3, and it applies once you have accepted that version in the app.
These reasons are never charged and never counted: Unsafe pickup, Vehicle problem and Emergency situation reported. Declining an offer is not a cancellation and never costs anything.
| What happened | What you get |
|---|---|
| Rider is a no-show after the 5 minutes, or 30 at the airport | GYD 500, all of it, at once |
| Rider cancels once you have arrived | GYD 500, all of it, at once |
| Rider cancels more than 3 minutes after you accepted, before you arrive | GYD 300, all of it, at once |
| Rider cancels within 3 minutes of you accepting | Nothing. They changed their mind straight away |
| The desk cancels a ride you had accepted | Your share, paid by GuyWay |
| You cancel | Nothing. Free up to 2 a week, then GYD 1,000 each, except for an unsafe pickup, a vehicle problem or an emergency |
If something goes wrong
| Problem | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| No-show says No-show opens after the published wait | Fewer than 5 minutes since Arrived, 30 at the airport, or Arrived not tapped | Tap Arrived, then watch the clock on the ride screen |
| No-show says Message the rider first | The app has not seen a message from you on this ride | Send one from the ride screen. If you have no signal, ops can close the ride for you on WhatsApp +592 655-7775 |
| The rider turns up as I tap No-show | Timing | Ask ops to reopen the ride on WhatsApp +592 655-7775 |
| The pickup point is wrong | The rider dropped the pin badly | Message the rider. Move to the right place if it is close. Otherwise cancel with Wrong pickup address |
| I cancelled by mistake | Wrong button | Tell ops at once; the ride can be reassigned to you if no other car has taken it |
| The ride screen says to collect more than the fare | The rider owes an old fee from a ride they missed | Collect the total shown. That part is GuyWay's, not yours, and it does not change your share of this fare |
