Safety comes standard

GuyWay combines real-world operational standards with in-app tools that help you ride with confidence. Our mission is to raise the bar for transportation in Guyana - safer streets, clearer accountability, and cleaner mobility through our EV fleet. Emergency numbers (Guyana): Police 911, Fire 912, Ambulance 913.

Definitions

  • • Trip tracking: Trips arranged through GuyWay can be tracked via the app so there is a record of the route, time, and trip details.
  • • Two-way ratings: Riders and drivers rate each other. Feedback helps us improve and take action when standards are not met.
  • • Privacy-minded communication: Use in-app messaging for pickup coordination. We aim to reduce unnecessary sharing of personal contact information.
  • • Support when you need it: For urgent safety concerns, contact local emergency services first. For platform help, email Support@GuyWay.gy.

1. Before your ride

  • • Confirm the match: Check the driver name, vehicle details, and plate number shown in the app.
  • • Choose a safe pickup: In Georgetown, pick well-lit locations where a vehicle can stop safely, hotel entrances, main gates, visible corners.
  • • Share your plan: Tell a friend where you're going or use trip-sharing features when available.

2. During your ride

  • • Seatbelts first: Always buckle up.
  • • Stay in control: If anything feels off, end the ride in a safe public place when possible and contact Support.
  • • Emergency help: In an emergency, call Police 911, Fire 912, Ambulance 913.
  • • Document issues: Note the trip time and driver details from the app to help us investigate quickly.

3. After your ride

  • • Rate your trip: Ratings and safety feedback help us take action.
  • • Report concerns: Use in-app help tools or email Support. We take safety reports seriously.
  • • Lost item: Contact Support with your trip details for help coordinating a return.

4. Driver screening and onboarding

GuyWay drivers complete onboarding and may undergo background checks and ongoing compliance review. Drivers are expected to comply with Guyanese traffic laws, platform rules, and professional conduct standards.

  • • Identity verification and required documentation (where applicable).
  • • Driver education on safe driving and respectful rider experience.
  • • Ongoing enforcement for unsafe behavior, fraud, or misconduct.

5. Vehicle standards (EV fleet)

GuyWay is building an EV-forward fleet. EVs can support a smoother ride and cleaner streets by reducing tailpipe emissions over time. Safety starts with vehicle readiness, so we emphasize maintenance and basic vehicle condition standards.

  • • Minimum road-safe standards (tires, brakes, lights, seatbelts).
  • • Clean, smoke-free vehicle expectations.
  • • EV charging and operational readiness checks to reduce mid-trip issues.

6. Community guidelines

  • • We expect respectful behavior from everyone using GuyWay. This includes:
  • • No discrimination or harassment based on race, nationality, religion, gender, disability, or any protected characteristic.
  • • No threats or violence - ever.
  • • No drugs or alcohol - drivers must not operate under the influence.
  • • Respect for service animals and accessibility needs.

7. Reporting and support

The Platform may allow Riders and Drivers to rate each other and submit feedback. Ratings help improve safety and service quality. We may investigate reports and take action including warnings, suspensions, or removal from the Platform.

Note: Safety tools and coverage may evolve as GuyWay expands. This page will be updated as features are added.
