CJIA airport taxi and transfers

CJIA at Timehri is about 41 km south of central Georgetown on the East Bank Highway. The ride to Stabroek is about GYD 20,500 in a GuyWay car and about GYD 25,000 in GuyWay Executive.
Domestic and regional flights usually land at Ogle, 8 km from the city; see arriving at Ogle.
Arriving at CJIA: step by step
- Create your account at home. Download GuyWay from the App Store or Google Play and sign up with your own mobile number.
- Schedule the pickup with your flight number. Tap Airport, choose Coming from a flight and CJIA. You can do this up to 90 days ahead.
- Re-timing is free. If the flight lands early or late, the pickup moves with it. Waiting is free for 60 minutes after landing.
- Meet the driver outside the terminal entrance. There is no GuyWay desk. Check the plate, then give the driver your trip PIN. If either does not match, do not get in, and message +592 655-7775.
Landing at night
The government travel advisories say to use a reputable taxi company and book in advance:
- The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office also advises avoiding travel to and from CJIA late at night and before dawn if possible (FCDO advice for Guyana).
- The Government of Canada says to use taxis connected to major hotels or from a reputable company (travel.gc.ca, Guyana, updated 28 September 2026).
- The US Department of State rates Guyana Level 3, “Reconsider travel” (travel.state.gov, Guyana, issued 12 May 2025).
Book before you fly so a named driver is waiting. The trip PIN is on by default at night. There is no night surcharge.

Paying with a card from abroad
Foreign cards are charged in US dollars. You need no Guyana dollars.
Your phone when you land
You need data to see the driver’s details and the PIN, so turn on roaming or buy a local SIM. Guyana’s two mobile networks are GTT and Digicel.
Booking for someone who is arriving
You can book the pickup for a relative or colleague from your own account. Companies can use a GuyWay for Business account.
Leaving Guyana from CJIA
Tap Airport and choose Catching a flight. The app suggests a pickup three hours before departure. See Georgetown to CJIA.
Ogle Airport transfers, both directions
Regional and domestic flights, including Kaieteur and Lethem, use Ogle, about 8 km from central Georgetown: about GYD 3,850, or about GYD 4,750 in GuyWay Executive. Ogle flights are not tracked, so set the arrival pickup time yourself; waiting is free for 30 minutes after the driver arrives. The Ogle Airport page has the details.
