The answers, before you apply.
Ten questions we get from drivers in Georgetown every week. If yours isn’t here, the Help Center covers the full ride FAQ, or talk to our driver team.
Full-time drivers running 50–65 hours a week typically take home GY$200,000–400,000 a month, depending on airport-trip mix, bonus participation, and whether you drive your own vehicle or through our rent-to-own partners. The earnings calculator above models your scenario in seconds. We also publish a median payout number quarterly once we have launch data — no guesswork.
No. You have three paths: (1) you own an EV already — plug in and go; (2) you own a hybrid — also accepted, with a slightly different fee tier; (3) you rent-to-own through a GuyWay fleet partner on driver-friendly terms. We match you with the right partner during onboarding, and the economics of each path are side-by-side in the earnings calculator.
Every trip is tracked. In-app SOS goes to a trained human in our Georgetown office — not a chatbot queue. Every driver passes a police clearance + licence verification before their first ride, and every car carries commercial insurance. The full protocol (incident response, lost items, rider reports) is on our safety page.
Flat 20% per trip, visible before you accept every ride — no surge math, no hidden fees. Payouts go weekly to your Guyanese bank account. Daily cash-out is available at launch for a small convenience fee. Read the fine print in our Terms & Conditions.
Electric drivers pay roughly one-third of what gas drivers pay per kilometre. Lower “fuel”, lower maintenance, fewer visits to the garage. Charging partners across the coast mean you’re never more than 20 minutes from a plug. The full emissions + cost math — including how GuyWay’s launch fleet lines up with our carbon commitments — lives on the sustainability page.
Business riders are billed monthly on a corporate account, which usually translates into longer trips and better tips. Drivers often say business is where the best-paid airport runs come from. You’re matched the same way as a regular ride — same fare visible before accept.
A valid Guyanese driver’s licence, a current vehicle fitness certificate (if you’re bringing your own car), and a Police Clearance issued in the last 12 months. If anything’s missing we tell you during the in-person onboarding and help you sort it — don’t let paperwork stop you applying today.
Yes — weekends only, evenings only, or anything in between. The app shows live demand so you can drive when it pays most (typically airport runs 5am–8am, after-work 5pm–8pm, and weekend nights). Bonuses are posted every Sunday for the week ahead.
From application submitted to first paid trip: typically 72 hours. A human calls you within 48 hours of applying, then you come in for a half-day session in Georgetown covering app training, safety protocols, and vehicle inspection. Same-day activation — your first trip usually happens the afternoon after onboarding.
Three co-founders who met at Saïd Business School (University of Oxford) and decided Georgetown deserved a ride network built for Guyana, not a copy-paste of Uber. Full backstory, photos, and credentials are on the About page; the founder letter is on the Founders page.
