A GuyWay account belongs to an adult. A rider under 18 travels with an adult, and the adult's account carries the ride. The driver may refuse to start a ride when a child is alone at the pickup.
Where you find it
The rule is in the rider terms. It applies to every booking, including a ride booked for someone else.
Rules that apply
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| Account | Only an adult can hold an account and book |
| Travelling | A rider under 18 travels with an adult in the car |
| Booking for a child | Book from your account and travel with the child, or arrange for another adult to travel with them |
| Responsibility | The account holder is responsible for the fare, the conduct in the car and any fee |
| Child seat | Ask for one in the booking note. Check with GuyWay operations for availability on the day |
| School runs | Not offered as a service. Each ride is booked and accompanied like any other |
Why the rule exists
| Reason | Detail |
|---|---|
| Safety | The driver has no way to verify a child's identity or a parent's consent at the kerb |
| The pickup PIN | The PIN is given to the account holder or the named rider, who must be present |
| The terms | The rider terms are a contract with an adult |
Note A ride booked for someone else under 18 is treated the same way: the adult travelling with them gives the pickup PIN to the driver.
