Payment methods

The cards and mobile money the app accepts, how saved methods work, and why fares are never paid in cash.

Every fare is paid through the app. You choose a payment method before your first ride, and the fare is charged to it when the ride ends. Cash is accepted for tips only.

Where you find it

Open the app, tap your profile, then Payment. From there you can add a method, remove one and choose the default.

Rules that apply

RuleDetail
No cash for faresThe driver cannot take cash for the fare. A driver who asks for cash is breaking GuyWay's rules. Report it on WhatsApp at +592 655-7775
TipsIn the app for up to 30 days after the ride, or in cash to the driver. Tips go 100 percent to the driver
Promo creditGuyWay promo credit is applied first, then the rest goes to your payment method
ReceiptEmailed after every ride, showing the method used
Card detailsKept by the payment provider, never in GuyWay's rider records

Note A payment that fails at the end of a ride stays pending until you retry it. You cannot book the next ride until it is settled. See Pay for your ride.
