Pay for your ride

How the fare is charged to your card, MMG, Apple Pay or Google Pay when the ride ends, and what to do when a payment fails.

Updated
12 September 2026

Do this at the end of every ride. Most of the time the app does it for you.

Before you start. A payment method must be on your account. The fare is the fixed amount shown at booking, plus any adjustment under section 5 of the terms and less any promo credit. Cash is never accepted for the fare.

Steps

  1. Wait for the driver to end the ride. The ride screen shows Ride completed and the final fare.
  2. Check the payment method shown. Tap it to choose another saved method for this ride.
  3. Tap Pay. With Apple Pay or Google Pay, confirm on your phone.
  4. For MMG, approve the payment in your MMG account when prompted.
  5. Wait for Paid on the ride screen.
  6. Add a tip if you want to. See Tip your driver.

What happens next

The receipt is emailed to the address on your account. Your promo credit, when you have any, is used first and the rest goes to the payment method. The driver sees that the ride is paid and nothing more; your card or MMG details never reach the driver.

A ride billed to a GuyWay for Business account is not paid on the spot. It goes on the employer's monthly statement.

Note Until a failed payment is settled, you cannot book the next ride.
