GuyWay credit is an amount on your account that pays part or all of a fare before your card or MMG is charged. There are two kinds:
- Bought credit. You add it yourself with Add money (card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or MMG), or pay for it at the GuyWay office. It works like a gift card: it never expires, it can only be spent on GuyWay rides, and it cannot be refunded in cash or moved to another account.
- Promo credit. GuyWay adds it: after a problem with a ride, as part of an offer, or when someone you invited takes their first ride. It has an expiry date.
Neither kind is cash.
Where you find it
Open the app, tap your profile, then Payment. Your credit balance is shown above the saved methods. It also appears on the booking screen when a credit will apply to the ride.
Elements
| Element | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Balance | The credit available now, in GYD |
| Expiry | The date the credit lapses. Every credit has one |
| On hold | Credit from an invite, waiting out its hold before it can be spent |
| History | Each credit added and each ride it was used on |
Rules that apply
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| Applied first | Credit is used before your payment method, on the next ride you pay for |
| Partial fares | When the credit is smaller than the fare, the rest goes to your payment method |
| Not for tips | Tips are charged to your payment method, never to credit |
| Not refundable | Credit, bought or promo, cannot be paid out in cash or to a card |
| Expiring first | Promo credit, which lapses, is used before bought credit, which does not |
| Expiry | Bought credit never expires. Promo credit lapses 90 days after it is added unless a different date is given, and the payment screen says Good until that date under the balance |
| A refunded ride | If a ride you paid for with credit is refunded, the credit comes back to you |
| One account | Credit stays on the account it was added to. It cannot be moved to someone else |
On the receipt
| Line | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Fare | The fixed fare plus any adjustment under section 5 |
| Promo credit | The amount taken from your credit, shown as a negative line |
| Charged to | The amount charged to the payment method, and which one |
Note A business ride billed to an employer's account does not use your personal credit.
