Invite a friend

Share your code, what you both get, when it lands and the rules that stop it being abused.

Share GuyWay with someone who has never used it and you both get credit.

Before you start. You need a GuyWay account. The person you invite must be new to GuyWay: a number that already has an account with rides on it does not count.

Steps

  1. Open Account and tap Invite a friend.
  2. Tap Share your invite. Your phone's own share sheet opens with the message already written, so you can send it through whichever app you already use.
  3. If your phone has no share sheet, tap Copy the link and paste it into a message. You can also read out the code shown on the screen; it works just as well.

What your friend sees

The link opens a page with your name on it, the offer, and a button that opens the GuyWay app. They do not need anything installed first. When they sign in, your code is already applied and there is nothing to type.

If the code does not come through, they can type it on the sign-in screen. It is printed on that page in large letters for exactly that reason.

When the credit arrives

Nothing lands at sign-up. The credit lands after your friend takes their first ride, inside 30 days of signing up. A free or test ride does not count, and neither does a ride whose fare could not be charged: the credit follows once the fare goes through.

The credit is then held for a few days before it can be spent. The screen shows how much is on hold and when it is released. This is not a delay for its own sake: it is the time GuyWay needs to check that an invite is genuine before the money is gone.

The credit lands on your GuyWay credit, which is the same balance a fare comes off. It lasts 90 days from the day it lands, and the payment screen says the date.

The rules

  • One reward for each new GuyWay account, once, for ever.
  • You cannot invite yourself, and you cannot invite a number that is already on GuyWay. A second account on your own phone is caught by the number, not the name.
  • GuyWay can take a reward back if an invite turns out not to be genuine, or if the ride it was paid for is later refunded or charged back. What has already been spent on a ride is not taken off you.

What GuyWay tells you

How many people signed up, how many are waiting on a first ride, and what you have earned. Not who they are. Your friends keep their privacy, and so do you.
