Do this once, the first time you open the GuyWay app.
Before you start. Install the GuyWay app from the App Store or Google Play. Have your mobile phone with you, because the app sends a verification code to the number you enter. A Guyanese number and a foreign number both work. Have a card or your MMG details ready if you want to book straight away.
Steps
- Open the app and tap Sign up.
- Choose your country code and enter your mobile number. Guyanese numbers start with +592.
- Tap Continue and wait for the verification code.
- Enter the code in the Verification code field.
- Enter your name and, if you want receipts, your email address.
- Tap Add payment method and add a card, MMG, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
- Tap Done.
What happens next
Your account is open and you can book a ride. GuyWay keeps the minimum on file: your name, your mobile number, an optional email address and the payment method your provider needs. No street address, no identity document and no date of birth are asked for.
Your receipts go to the email address you entered. You can change it later from your profile.
Note The code is sent to the number you typed. If you enter a foreign number, make sure it can receive messages while you are in Guyana. Check with GuyWay operations for the exact channel the code arrives on.
If something goes wrong
| Problem | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| The code does not arrive | Wrong number, or the phone has no signal | Check the number, move to where you have signal, then tap Resend code |
| The number is already registered | You or someone else signed up with it before | Sign in instead of signing up. If it is not your account, message +592 655-7775 |
| The payment method is refused | Card blocked for online use, or MMG account not active | Try another method, or contact your bank or MMG |
| The app asks for the code again | The code expired | Request a new code and enter it within a few minutes |
