Your bank account and VAT number

Where your monthly statement is settled, and the VAT number printed on trip invoices in your name.

Updated
5 October 2026

Do this before your first statement, and again whenever your bank account changes.

Before you start. Have your bank's name, the account number and the name on the account. The account must be in your own name.

Steps to add or change the bank account

  1. Open the Account tab, tap Account and data, then Bank account.
  2. Tap Change account if one is already on file.
  3. Enter the name on the account and choose your bank. If it is not listed, choose Other and type its name.
  4. Enter the account number, 6 to 20 digits, and choose Savings or Chequing.
  5. Tap Save account.

The screen confirms the account by its last four digits. Only those four digits are ever shown.

The banks listed are Republic Bank, Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI), Demerara Bank, Citizens Bank, Bank of Baroda, Scotiabank (Bank of Nova Scotia), New Building Society and Hand in Hand Trust.

Steps to add a VAT number

Do this only if you are registered for VAT with the Guyana Revenue Authority.

  1. Open the Account tab and tap Your profile.
  2. Under VAT registration, enter your VAT number.
  3. Tap Save. The trip invoices issued in your name now show that number.

To take it off, clear the field and save.

What happens next

The net balance of your monthly statement is settled into the account on file. GuyWay watches your fares over a rolling 12 months against the VAT registration threshold of GYD 15,000,000, and tells you when you reach 80 percent of it.
