Split the fare

Ask up to three people to share the fare of your ride, by their number or by a link, and how each share is charged.

Do this during a ride you booked when you want others to pay part of the fare.

Before you start. The ride must be booked and not yet finished. You can ask up to 3 other people.

Steps

  1. Open the ride and go to Split the fare.
  2. Enter the person's number under Their number and tap Ask them. The screen says whether they will get a notification in the app or a WhatsApp message with a link.
  3. To send it yourself, tap Or get a link to send yourself and share the link. Anyone who opens it can take a share, and it lasts a day.
  4. Watch the answers on the same panel.

What happens next

The person sees who asked and their share, and taps Accept my share or No thanks. Accepting needs a GuyWay account.

The fare is split equally between you and everyone who accepted. When the ride ends, each person's share is charged to their own card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and you are charged the rest. If a share cannot be charged, it is added to yours. A share never goes up for the person who accepted it; any rise in the fare is yours. You remain responsible for the whole fare.
