Do this during a ride when your plans change: you need to collect something on the way, or you want to end the ride somewhere else.
Before you start. The ride must be under way, or the driver must be on the way to you. The fixed fare you confirmed covers the trip you booked. A new drop-off, a stop, a significant detour or extended waiting changes the distance and the time, and the fare adjusts to match. The rule is section 5 of the rider terms.
Steps
- Open the ride screen in the app.
- Tap the destination at the top of the screen.
- Choose Change drop-off or Add stop.
- Enter the new address, or drop the pin on the map.
- Read the adjusted fare shown before you confirm.
- Tap Confirm.
- Tell the driver, so the route on the driver's screen and yours agree.
What happens next
The route on both screens updates. The fare is recalculated on the same rate card: the City Ride base of GYD 2,000 with the first 3 km included, then GYD 375 per additional km. There is no surge and no extra charge for changing your mind, only the distance and the time actually driven.
Waiting at a stop is charged when it runs long. The receipt after the ride lists the original fare and each adjustment on its own line.
Note The desk can also record the change if you ask the driver to call it in. Every change is written to the ride with the time and who made it.
If something goes wrong
| Problem | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Add stop is not offered | The ride has already ended | Book a new ride from where you are |
| The new drop-off is refused | It is outside the service area | Choose a drop-off inside the area, see Where GuyWay operates |
| The fare went up more than expected | The new route is much longer, or there was waiting | Check the receipt lines. Dispute within 30 days at support@guyway.gy if a line is wrong |
| The driver's route did not change | The change did not reach the driver's app | Tell the driver the new address and ask them to confirm it on their screen |
