Do this whenever the car is at the hub and below its target, and whenever a battery message tells you to return.
Before you start. The hub charger and the charging card are reserved for the car you hold. Never charge another car with them, and never charge the GuyWay car elsewhere without asking ops.
Steps
- Park at a free charger at the hub, 2874 Greenfield, Providence.
- Open the charge port from the car screen or with the button on the cable.
- Plug in the cable. Wait until the port light turns green and the car screen shows Charging.
- Check the target on the car screen. The next slot wants at least 80 percent. Set the limit to the target if it is lower.
- Leave the car on the cable. It gains about 18 points of charge an hour on the hub charger.
- Open GuyWay Driver and check Home. The charge level shown there matches the car.
- Unplug only when the car shows Complete or when the level is at or above the target.
What happens next
The platform reads the charge level from the car. Dispatch offers you a ride only when the car can cover the drive to the pickup, the trip and the road back to the hub, with 15 percent kept in reserve. A car on the cable is never offered a ride.
The battery rules watch every car:
| Level | What it means | What you receive |
|---|---|---|
| At or below 35 percent | Warn | Nothing on WhatsApp; ops sees it |
| At or below 25 percent | Recall | A WhatsApp message: finish this ride, then return to the hub to charge |
| At or below 15 percent | Critical | A WhatsApp message: do not take new rides, return to the hub now |
The message reads, for example: "GuyWay: GW-012 is at 24% with about 100 km left. Finish this ride, then return to GuyWay yard, Providence to charge." You receive one message per level at most every 30 minutes. Plugging in ends the episode.
If something goes wrong
| Problem | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| The port light stays red | Cable not seated, or a charger fault | Unplug, plug in again, try another charger |
| Charging stops after a minute | The grid dropped | Wait; the session resumes on its own within 10 minutes |
| The app shows a lower level than the car | The car has not reported for a few minutes | Wait one minute; the reading updates when the car is in touch |
| A recall message arrives while the car is charging | The message was held during quiet hours | No action; the level on the car is what counts |
