Ride-hailing (booking a car through a phone app rather than hailing from the kerb) is still new to Guyana. Uber, Lyft, Bolt and the other global platforms do not operate here. The options today are a driver’s number saved in WhatsApp, kerbside taxis at Stabroek and outside the hotels, and a handful of domestic apps. GuyWay is Guyana’s first all-electric ride network: a 100% electric Tesla fleet, upfront fixed fares, and drivers vetted in person in Georgetown.

The full product: iOS and Android apps, fixed fares shown before you confirm, an all-electric Tesla fleet, drivers who have passed a licence and police-clearance check, in-app SOS, live trip share, a pickup PIN and masked in-app calls and messages with the driver, rides scheduled days ahead or booked for someone else from your account, payment by card, MMG, Apple Pay, Google Pay or GuyWay promo credit, emailed receipts, and ratings both ways. Corporate accounts via GuyWay for Business. The whole thing is built for Guyana: MMG-native, quoted in GYD, and running 24/7 across Georgetown, the East Bank to CJIA, the East Coast, Parika and the Bartica road.

Frequently asked

Is there a ride-hailing app in Guyana?

Yes. GuyWay is Guyana’s first all-electric ride network, live in Georgetown, on the East Bank to CJIA, the East Coast, Parika and toward Bartica. A handful of other domestic apps operate alongside it; GuyWay’s difference is the 100% Tesla fleet and a fixed fare shown before you confirm. Linden and New Amsterdam are not yet served.

Do any global apps work in Guyana?

No. Uber, Lyft, Bolt, Gett and DiDi do not operate in Guyana. GuyWay is the local, purpose-built answer, and it takes an international Visa or Mastercard as readily as MMG. Sign-up works with a foreign mobile number, so visitors can install it before they land.

What makes GuyWay different from a taxi?

Fixed fares, booking in the app with no negotiation, an electric fleet, drivers with police clearance, and corporate account support. Payment is in the app, by card, MMG, Apple Pay, Google Pay or a corporate account. The fare you see is the fare you pay, unless you add a stop, change the destination, keep the driver waiting, or a toll or bridge fee applies. Those are added at cost, with no mark-up.
