GuyWay is Guyana’s first all-electric ride network. Operationally this matters for three specific reasons: an electric car has no tailpipe, so every ride is cleaner than the same trip in a petrol taxi; there is far less to go wrong mechanically, so the cars spend more time on the road; and the ride is visibly quieter and smoother, which shows in how people feel when they step out. The electric choice also fits Guyana’s Low Carbon Development Strategy rather than working against it.
Practical notes: charging is GuyWay’s job. The car arrives charged and the fare is fixed in the app before you confirm, whatever the battery reads. Inside, expect strong A/C, a boot that takes airport luggage, USB charging in every car, and a Tesla Model 3 that seats four riders. Pay by card, MMG, Apple Pay, Google Pay or GuyWay promo credit; the receipt is emailed after the trip. No cash for fares, though you may tip the driver in the app or in cash. Visitors can sign up with a foreign mobile number, and a ride can be scheduled days ahead in the app.

Frequently asked
Are all GuyWay cars electric?
Yes. Every GuyWay ride is a Tesla Model 3. There is no petrol car in the fleet and no petrol option in the app.
How is the charging infrastructure handled?
Behind the scenes. Drivers charge between trips, and the fare never depends on the battery: the price is fixed in the app before you confirm, whatever the car reads. On the CJIA corridor and the East Coast, a Model 3 covers the round trip on a single charge with plenty of margin.
Does an electric ride cost more than a regular taxi?
There is no premium for the electric car. A 5 km hop across Georgetown is about GY$2,750 on the City Ride rate card, fixed before you confirm. Compare that with the quote you get elsewhere. We make no claim to be cheaper, only that the price does not move with the weather or the hour.
