Bartica is Guyana’s gateway to the interior, a mining-and-tourism town at the meeting of the Essequibo, Mazaruni, and Cuyuni rivers, reached from Georgetown via a 52 km road transfer to Parika, then a speedboat crossing of about an hour on the Essequibo River. GuyWay runs the road leg: across the Demerara Harbour Bridge, through Vreed-en-Hoop and the West Coast villages to Parika Stelling, on a City Ride fare fixed in the app before you confirm. The speedboat crossing belongs to the independent boat operators at the stelling; you buy the ticket there.
Boat timings are set by the operators. Morning departures are the norm and the last boats usually leave mid-afternoon, so schedule the ride in the app for the time you want to be at the stelling, with a margin for a Demerara Bridge retraction; a scheduled ride can be edited or cancelled in the app if the boat plan moves. Onward ground transport in Bartica is informal, so arrange it locally on arrival. The fare you see is the fare you pay, unless you add a stop, change the destination, keep the driver waiting, or a toll or bridge fee applies. Those are added at cost, no mark-up.
