Parika sits on the west bank of the Essequibo River, 52 km west of Georgetown via the Demerara Harbour Bridge and the West Coast Demerara highway. It’s the main jumping-off point for Essequibo ferry services — onwards to Bartica, Supenaam, Leguan, and other river destinations. GuyWay’s Parika run is a fixed-fare long-haul ride across the Demerara Bridge, through Vreed-en-Hoop and the West Coast villages to Parika Stelling.
Travel time is 1h 15m – 1h 30m, longer during Demerara Bridge openings. Fare is GY$15,500–18,250 on a Ride. For Essequibo ferry connections, pre-book the road leg 24+ hours ahead to align with scheduled ferry departures. See Bartica for combined ground+ferry logistics.

Frequently asked
Can I coordinate a ferry departure?
Yes — pre-book the Georgetown → Parika ride with arrival timed before the ferry. The GuyWay driver drops at the stelling; ferry tickets purchased there.
Does the Demerara Bridge affect the route?
Yes — the bridge opens for river traffic periodically (30–45 min closures). GuyWay’s app tracks live schedule and adjusts ETA. Fare stays fixed.
Fleet range for Parika return?
Tesla handles the 104 km round-trip comfortably with reserves. Round-trip bookings are common for day excursions; fare is cheaper than two one-ways.
