Berbice, Guyana’s eastern region, is the country east of the Berbice River, anchored by New Amsterdam, Canje, Rose Hall, and the Corentyne coast down to Corriverton. From Georgetown it is about 100 km to New Amsterdam, 125 km to Rose Hall and 180 km to Corriverton at the Suriname border: east along the East Coast Public Road through Mahaica, Mahaicony and Rosignol, then across the Berbice Bridge to New Amsterdam and on along the Corentyne Highway. Allow 1h 45m to New Amsterdam, about 2h 15m to Rose Hall and around 3 hours to Corriverton, longer when the bridge is busy.

GuyWay does not run this corridor yet. Today the network serves Georgetown, the East Coast Demerara, the CJIA corridor, Ogle, Parika and the Bartica road, and the app will not quote a Berbice trip. Getting there today means a Route 50 minibus from Stabroek Market to Rosignol and New Amsterdam, a hire car from the town’s taxi services, or a private arrangement. If Berbice matters to you (family in Canje, a site on the Corentyne, a weekend in Rose Hall), message +592 655-7775 on WhatsApp and we will tell you the moment the corridor opens.

Ready when you are.
