The Demerara River is Georgetown's western boundary — the wide, brown-water estuary crossed by the Demerara Harbour Bridge and dotted with working stellings, ferry points, and occasional river-tour jetties. The main visitor-adjacent access is the Stabroek stelling by Stabroek Market, plus a few tour operators running day trips up the river.
GuyWay covers rides to all river-access points. Stabroek stelling is 2–3 minutes from most downtown hotels. The Demerara Harbour Bridge itself (Peter's Hall) is 15–20 minutes via the East Bank Highway; rides across the bridge continue onto the West Bank. Fixed fares regardless of tide or bridge-opening schedule.

Frequently asked
Is the Demerara Harbour Bridge open to taxis?
Yes — GuyWay uses the bridge for East Bank and West Bank routes. The bridge opens periodically for river traffic; closures are usually 30–45 minutes, and the app shows live schedule.
Pickup at the Stabroek stelling?
Yes — drop pin at the stelling entrance (west side of Stabroek Market on Water Street). Drivers know the legal curb access.
River tours — does GuyWay handle the onward leg?
We cover the taxi to/from the tour jetty. The tour itself is separate; typical tours are run from private operators near the stelling.
