Damage, the excess and the waiver

Reporting damage with photos, the GYD 165,000 cap, the Damage Waiver, and recovery in instalments.

Updated
12 September 2026

Do this as soon as the car is damaged, whoever caused it.

Before you start. Your liability for damage is capped at the excess, GYD 165,000 per event, which is the deductible on GuyWay's insurance policy. You owe nothing when you are not at fault. Theft and total loss are never yours. Repairs are recovered at cost, never at a flat amount.

Steps

  1. Make sure everyone is safe. Call 911 if anyone is hurt.
  2. Take photos of the damage, the other vehicle if there is one, the number plates and the scene.
  3. Send the photos and the ride number to WhatsApp +592 655-7775.
  4. Open GuyWay Driver, tap Report damage on the ride or on Home, and upload the photos.
  5. Drive to the hub if the car is safe to drive. Otherwise wait for ops to arrange recovery.
  6. Give the team the other party's details and any police report number.
  7. Read the repair invoice when the team sends it. It comes from an independent workshop, before anything is deducted.

What happens next

If you are at fault, the repair cost is deducted from your statements, capped at GYD 165,000 for the event and at GYD 495,000 in any 12 months. Recovery is in instalments of at most one third of the net balance of each statement, so a repair never takes a whole month.

If you are not at fault, or the loss is theft or a total loss, nothing is deducted.

The Damage Waiver lowers your excess in return for a fixed amount per slot. It is not insurance. Check with GuyWay operations for the price of the Damage Waiver and the reduced excess it gives.

Some events are excluded from the cap and are recovered in full: flood, underbody or roof damage, a warning light ignored, lost keys or key cards, an unauthorised driver at the wheel, and alcohol or drugs.
