New Amsterdam in Berbice is the other end of Guyana's populated coastal corridor, about 115 km east of CJIA. The road runs up the East Bank Highway from Timehri, skirts Georgetown, then follows the East Coast road through Mahaica, Mahaicony and Abary to Rosignol, where the Berbice Bridge, a tolled floating bridge, crosses the Berbice River into New Amsterdam. Allow about 2 hours in a private car; the coastal villages have speed bumps and markets on the road.
